My Favorite Mac Podcasts - Part 2
Continuing my list of Mac podcasts from part 1:
CommandN - Amber MacArthur and Mike Lazazzara host a weekly video show in which they talk about tech info, new websites and sometimes some how-tos. Amber and Mike live in Toronto so the show has a Canadian angle to it, which is a nice and slightly different perspective than the typical U.S. tech show. While not exclusively Mac focused, the discussion is always enlightening and the video is always good quality. I really like Amber’s focus on design and her web picks. Amber’s brother Jeff and Brian McKechnie also are a part of the CommandN team.
Mac Pro Podcast - Joseph Nilo hosts this video podcast that has become about an every-two-week production. Joseph has worked as a video editor and brings a pro-level video and audio perspective to his presentation. I really woudl like to learn more about video production and would like to work with FinalCut and Shake someday. For now, I’m going to learn as much as I can about it and will just work vicariously through people like Joseph.
This Week in Media - Yet another part of the TWiT “network”, as Leo officially dubbed it now that they have 12 shows. Alex Lindsey hosts this weekly discussion of the media industry from a consumer and video production perspective. Again, I’m intrigued by their comments on video and always learn a lot both about technical stuff.
CocoaRadio - My friend Blake Burris hosts discussions with the creators and designers of many of the third party made-for-Mac apps. One of the great things about the current Mac software environment is that almost anyone with a great idea, hard work and some design ability can create something great that a lot of people can use. Blake allows these creators to tell their story and inspire others to do the same.
Mac TV - great Mac and Apple videos delivered to your iTunes. MacTV has most (all?) of all the Apple ads(Mac, iPod, switchers, etc.) and some other extras like SteveNotes and special HD versions of commercials and in-store demo loops, etc. You can choose a version formatted for iPod or a higher resolution desktop version.
That’s a list of the best podcasts that I’ve been listening to for several months, even before I got my Mac. I’ve learned so much from all of these guys and really appreciate all the work they do to share great stories and great info with so many people. So, Amber, Jeff, Mike, Brian, Joseph, Alex, Emery, Kenji, Blake and whoever runs MacTV - thank you!
