Photowalking with Thomas Hawk

Robert Scoble has started a new show this week, aptly called the ScobleShow. Robert made big news when he left Microsoft and went to PodTech earlier this year, and presumably he’s been working on this new show since.

His show includes segments from at least the following 4 categories (according the the about page):

  • CEO Talk - discussions with important tech CEO’s
  • For Developers Only - discussions with developers about their techy stuff
  • The Pitch - actual entrepreneurs giving their pitch for their ideas
  • Photowalking - spending time with photographers as they do their thing and talking with them about the hows & whys
For his first of the Photowalking segments, he spends time with Thomas Hawk as he photographs around the Golden Gate bridge, and then on the streets of San Francisco at night.

I have admired Thomas Hawk’s photography for over a year now since finding him on Flickr, and absolutely love the chance to see him and hear him in action. He talks about his approach to photography, his equipment and some techniques - he’s an extremely down-to-earth guy. He also talks a bit about why he joined Zooomr and why he still loves Flickr.

Scoble and Thomas Hawk were having such a great time making the show that it actually took 4 episodes to deliver all the great discussions. As part of the production of the show, Scoble & team went back and put in some of the actual pictures that Thomas Hawk took right after he was talking about them in the video so you can see what the end result was. You can also see all the photos he took from the show on one of his Zooomr smart sets.

It’s fascinating, captivating and inspiring. I’m going to go watch it again.
